 HEALTH REQUIREMENTS -RABIES CERTIFICATE REQUIRED. NOT LESS THAN 30 DAYS OR MORE THAN I YEAR.

OFFICIAL ID PREMISE NUMBER OR SCRAPIE CERTIFICATION TAG NUMBER MUST BE IN ANIMAL'S EAR ADN THOROUGHLY DEFINED ON HEALTH PAPERS. - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Sheep exhibitors will be required to display health certificates to officials as required by the CT Department of Agriculture stating that sheep are free from CONTAGIOUS and INFECTIOUS diseases and are not from SCRAPIE-EXPOSED FLOCKS. SORE MOUTH, FOOT ROT, TICKS, PINK EYE, AND/OR ANY DISEASE CONDITION WILL BE CAUSE FOR REJECTION.

Rules and Regulations

1. Show open to all exhibitors subject to accommodations available. Pens are limited. Entries will close when pens are full, on/before July 1. Breed classes will be: Corriedales, Dorsets, Hampshires, Oxfords, Southdowns, Suffolks, AOB meat/wool.

2. All entrees must be on the grounds by 9:00 p.m. Friday. Breed show to start Sat. 10:00 a.m. Exhibitors are urged to be on grounds by 5 p.m. Friday as Firemen's Parade ties up town from 5:30 p.m. till dusk. Exceptions will be made till 9:00 p.m. KINDLY INDICATE EXPECTED ARRIVAL TIME ON ENTRY. Release time 6 p.m. Sunday. Initial shavings for bedding will be provided. Additional shavings for bedding will be offered for sale in trailer near cattle barn.

*3. Entry fee of $3.00 per animal + $8.00 per exhibitor must accompany entry. Make check payable to "Bridgewater Fair." List total number of sheep and breed on entry form. Send entries to Jon Dodd, 15 Painter Hill Rd., Woodbury, CT 06798.

4. Entries in all classes must be shown in owner's name only, as it appears on the registration papers, including all entries in both single and group classes. Ear tags or tattoos must be on each animal and correspond with registration papers. Registration papers will be checked at time of arrival and must be provided to any official upon request. Premium checks will be issued to registered owner only.

5. Sheep must be in show condition, blocked and fitted. Dirty or unfit sheep will not be accepted.

6. Entries are limited to 2 animals in individual classes, one entry in group classes in each breed.(See specific rules for Youth show.) Entries limited to 2 breeds, per farm family and/or exhibitor (15 SHEEP MAXIMUM). Youth exhibitors AGE LIMIT 21.

7. No award or premiums will be paid until all papers pertaining to ownership, breed, registration, health, etc., are approved by the officials.

8. The Committee reserves the right to combine or cancel any classes and to change or alter the judging schedule at any time.

9. Violations of rules and regulations will mean withholding of premiums. Decision of the judge will be final.

ALL REASONABLE PRECAUTIONS WILL BE TAKEN TO SECURE THE SAFETY OF EXHIBITORS AND ANIMALS. HOWEVER, NO OFFICIAL OF THE SHOW OR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FAIR WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.

10. Age of animals is determined as of September 1. Registration papers will be used to determine date of birth. Lamb class dates are: Sept. 1 - Dec. 31 Fall, and Jan., Feb., Mar.

Class 1 - Yearling Ram Class 7 - Yearling Ewe

Class 2 - Fall Ram Lamb (Rule 7) Class 8 - Pair of Yearling Ewes
Class 3 - Jan. Ram Lamb (Rule 7) Class 9 - Fall Ewe Lamb (Rule 7)
Class 4 - Feb. Ram Lamb (Rule 7) Class 10 - Jan. Ewe Lamb (Rule 7)
Class 5 - March Ram Lamb (Rule 7) Class I I - Feb. Ewe Lamb (Rule 7)
Class 6 - Pair of Ram Lambs Class 12 - March Ewe Lamb (Rule 7)
BREED CHAMPION (rosette only) Class 13 - Pair of Ewe Lambs

GROUP CLASSES:

(ALL animals must have been shown in the above individual classes)
Class 14 - Exhibitor's Flock - yearling or ram lamb, 2 yearling ewes, 2 ewe lambs - ALL OWNED BY EXHIBITOR.

Class 15 - Breeder's Flock - Same as Class 14 BUT MUST BE BRED AND OWNED BY THE EXHIBITOR.

Class 16 - Get of Sire - 4 animals sired by same ram-both sexes represented - any age.

Class 17- Best Pair - 1 yearling and 1 lamb - any sex.

Class 18 - Produce of dam - 2 animals - any age - same dam.

Class 19 - Market Lamb Classes-to be determined at show time; ewes not in another class and wethers; pure breds and crosses judged together. NO RAMS

Class 20 - Pair market lambs shown in previous classes.

Class 21 - Fitting and Showing, Junior through age 13.

Class 22 - Fitting and Showing, Senior age 14 through 19.


YOUTH SHOW: SUNDAY A.M.

Same classes as OPEN show except only one animal per exhibitor per class. Class 14 & Class 15 will be 1 yearling ewe for Junior Show ONLY.
