Owner's comments:

I purchased the boat 4 years ago for $4,000. It was my first boat over 15'. So I clearly had some learning to do. However, since the boat wasn't a big investment, I felt that if something happened, it wouldn't be a big deal. All you need is liability insurance! My thought was with a $30,000 boat I'd be overly cautious. With this boat I could be a more intrepid.

I needed and wanted to gain experience. The first year, we took a 6-day trip (see link) to Mattapoisett, MA (east of New Bedford). Since then we have sailed to various places on L.I. Sound. And as a crew member on other sailboats, I've been much further afield. I've also taken 6 U.S. Power Squadron courses, which has been a big help.

I 've also done considerable work on the boat. So I know now what's involved in owning a boat.

Briefly, it's a great boat to learn on AND have fun with - an ideal first boat.

The original 2001 Honda 9.9 was stolen off the boat while moored in Oct, 2009. A new 2009 Honda 9.9, along with a security lock was purchased with the insurance payment. The Honda 9.9 has proven to be a great engine!

My reason for selling the boat is that I want a bigger boat with more comforts. I'm retired and I'd like to anchor in Mattapoisett harbor (my home town) for a week or so at a time.

Storage of the boat at the HBC boatyard has been paid for through May 2010.

The photos above were taken 4 years ago so now the blue material is a bit faded.

Above you see the cockpit layout. You can see how the tiller extension is being used. The other end is inserted into the starboard-side tiller lock box, holding it firmly. During the time the photo was taken, the tiller was not touched for about 20 minutes as we sailded across L.I. Sound.
... The stolen 2001 Honda had a remote control setup. The control box is located in the photo just to the left of the base of the tiller. You can see a black cord emanating from it. The handle for the remote control was always being kicked or accidently moved. So the new motor does not have the remote setup, which I think will be a better arrangement.
.... The gas tank for the 9.9 is under the seat. The visible red gas tank is for the 2.0 hp Honda on the rail for the dingy.

Above is the new 2009 Honda 9.9 - still in the box - ready to be put on the boat in the spring. An anti-theft device is included. Tthere is one other neat way to fasten the motor to the boat, which I'll explain.
In the spring of 2008, I sanded down the keel and applied 4 coats of Interlux InterProtect. It is a two-part epoxy sealer. A refinishing of the keel had probably never done before.
Moored in the Housatonic waiting for its mast - to be stepped another day.
In the photo above, the hull is ready for it's annual coat of antifouling paint. I usually repaint the boot strip each spring too.
Being trucked to Birdseye landing in Stratford to be launched.
In pirates cove (near Port Jeff), a typical raft-up. We're to the left of the beautiful 43' trawler. Of course, "Miss Ruby" burns a lot more fuel than "Monkey Business."
Relaxing on deck.
There is always someone to chat with during a raft-up.
Mast stepped. Now waiting for sails.
Another raft-up.
Alone in Manhasset bay
Anchored in a channel between two Thimble islands off of Branford, CT
Another Pearson 26 near the mouth of the Connecticut River near Old Saybrook.
After a day of sailing somewhere, we are headed home up the Housatonic River at sunset.
In October 2009, we were staying at a private residence on Bailey Island, Maine. We are looking west to Mackerel Cove. The sun is rising. In this cove of mostly working fishing boats is a single sailboat. You can barely see it on the left.
It is a Pearson 26!
