October 1, 2005 - George Hall and Dick Jones ride around Manhatten Island

The following 16 photos give you an idea of the diversity of bike paths we followed. To read about the NYC Greenway, check out http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/mwg/mwghome.shtml. Or just Google "NYC Greenway"

As a Congregationalist, I have gotten the message a number of times that George travels with a classier group.
This section of the Greenway is very much like (in width) bike paths in Germany.
Pretty nice.

I just read today that this market will be moving to Brooklyn in 3 weeks. It's about 9:30am - cleanup time.
We decided to ride across the bridge and back.
We had to make a couple portages.
I don't see any bike trail along the river in this photo. So I think this was a 6 or seven block section where we had to ride on streets. No problem.
This is on the East Side. Generally speaking I got the impression that the Greenway on the West Side was a bit nicer.

On the WestSide. In all my travels, I have never seen a bike path like this.

We actually passed some CLAY tennis courts on the WestSide!

We left Bridgewater at about 6:15 a.m. and arrived at 20th street at 8:00 a.m.
